Our Approach to Health Information

Who we are, what we know, and what we don't

Eat Real Again makes real claims about food and health. That comes with a real responsibility: to be clear about who we are, what we know, what we do not know, and where the limits of our authority lie. This page lays that out plainly, so you always know exactly what you are reading and how much weight to give it.

We are not medical professionals. This site is informational, not medical advice. Every health-related claim we make is drawn from publicly available, credible research, and we list our sources so you can verify everything yourself. We encourage you to consult medical professionals you trust about your own health.

Who We Are

We are two people learning to live this way ourselves — not doctors, not registered dietitians, not researchers. We bring lived experience, careful reading, and a commitment to honesty. That is genuinely valuable, and it is also genuinely limited. We tell you which is which.

What This Site Is

  • An educational resource that explains, in plain English, what whole-food and anti-inflammatory eating looks like.
  • A recipe library built around clean, whole-food ingredient standards.
  • A set of sourced explanations connecting food to common health concerns.
  • A place that respects you as an adult capable of making your own informed decisions.

What This Site Is Not

  • It is not medical advice, and it does not replace your doctor, cardiologist, GI specialist, or dietitian.
  • It is not a treatment plan for any disease or condition.
  • It does not diagnose anything or tell you to start, stop, or change any medication.
  • It does not claim that food alone can cure illness.

How We Handle Uncertainty

Nutrition science is genuinely unsettled in many areas, and we refuse to pretend otherwise. When the evidence is strong, we say so. When a finding comes from a single study, we note it. When experts genuinely disagree — as they do on questions like lectins — we present both sides rather than picking a winner and hiding the debate. We would rather tell you “the science isn’t settled here” than sound more certain than the evidence allows.

Our promise: we will never knowingly overstate what the research shows to make a point. If we get something wrong, we will correct it. The See How We Source Our Information page explains exactly what standards we hold our claims to.

Working With Your Medical Team

The best use of this site is alongside good medical care, not instead of it. If you have a health condition — and many of our readers do — bring what you learn here to a professional you trust and ask how it fits your situation. You are the active participant in your own health. We want to help you be a better-informed one, not to stand between you and your care.

Medical care varies by geography and by individual experience. Some readers have excellent doctors; some have struggled to find good care. We recommend consulting medical professionals you trust — which honors both the importance of professional care and the real-world difficulty some people face in finding it.
