Apple Cider Donuts
Cakey, spiced donuts made with real apple cider and coated in cinnamon sugar - a…
Homemade sweets with real ingredients — because life's too short for fake food.
I’ve loved baked goods my whole life. Cakes, cookies, pies – you name it, I wanted to make it or buy it. And let’s be honest, it was usually buy it. Grabbing a box of snack cakes or a sleeve of cookies was quick, easy, and shut down the craving fast. But here’s the thing: years of processed foods, convenience ingredients, and “just add water” mixes caught up with me. I started dealing with health issues that made me take a hard look at what I was actually putting in my body.
So for the sake of my ‘boo’ (my nickname for wifey) and myself, we tried different approaches. Paleo? Couldn’t do it. Swapping wheat flour for almond flour? No thanks – I actually want to enjoy what I’m eating. Every extreme diet felt like punishment, and none of them stuck.
Then we discovered the Mediterranean way of eating, and something clicked. It’s not about eliminating everything you love – it’s about using real ingredients. Olive oil instead of vegetable oil. Honey or maple syrup instead of white sugar. Actual butter. Real vanilla. Ingredients your great-grandmother would recognize.
That’s what these recipes are about. I’m not here to tell you dessert is a health food. But I am here to show you that you can bake something delicious without the artificial colors, the preservatives, and the stuff you can’t pronounce. Real ingredients, real flavor, and zero guilt about what’s actually in it.
Welcome to my kitchen. Let’s make something good.
