Country Gravy and Biscuits
Fluffy homemade biscuits smothered in creamy sausage gravy. This is what they call Southern comfort at its finest.
Instructions
- For biscuits: Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in buttermilk until just combined.
- Pat dough to 1-inch thickness. Cut into rounds with a biscuit cutter.
- Bake at 425°F for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- For gravy: Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it up, until browned.
- Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir to coat. Cook 1 minute.
- Gradually add milk, stirring constantly. Cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Season with salt and plenty of black pepper.
- Split warm biscuits and ladle gravy generously over the top.
